ISLAMABAD, September 7, 2026: Pakistan’s security forces have intensified counterterrorism operations across the country, with authorities reporting significant successes against militant groups in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces killed 48 militants in Balochistan during operations conducted over the past 48 to 72 hours. The operations were carried out in Mastung, Quetta, Kalat and Sibi districts. The military said weapons, ammunition and improvised explosive devices were also recovered or destroyed during the actions.

The latest operations included an engagement in Mastung, where six militants were reported killed, while another operation in the Shaban area of Quetta resulted in 26 militants being killed, according to ISPR. Two others were killed during an operation in Kalat, while security forces also foiled an attempted attack on a police station in Bhag, Sibi district.

Security operations have also continued in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where ISPR reported that 21 militants were killed in separate actions in North Waziristan, Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan. Ten militants were reportedly killed during an operation near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in North Waziristan, while additional militants were eliminated in subsequent engagements.

The developments come amid continued security challenges along Pakistan’s western border and in Balochistan, where militant violence has remained a major concern. Pakistani authorities say security forces and law-enforcement agencies are maintaining heightened vigilance and continuing intelligence-based operations to prevent further attacks.

Pakistan has repeatedly stated that the objective of the ongoing counterterrorism campaign is to eliminate militant networks and restore lasting peace and stability. Islamabad has also called for improved border management and cooperation with neighbouring Afghanistan to prevent militant groups from using territory across the border.
