KABUL, June 2

Afghan security forces dismantled a network of clandestine drug-processing laboratories and incinerated 3,400 kg of illicit narcotics during coordinated operations in western Ghor and southern Uruzgan provinces, the Ministry of Interior Affairs said on Tuesday.
The ministry said counter-narcotics police carried out separate raids on the outskirts of provincial capitals and remote districts, destroying hidden facilities and burning large quantities of narcotics.
The statement did not specify the number of laboratories dismantled or confirm arrests, but said the seized substances were intended for heroin production.
In a parallel operation targeting drug cultivation, authorities last week destroyed around 1,000 acres of poppy fields in northern Samangan province as part of a nationwide anti-narcotics campaign.
The Afghan government has intensified efforts against drug production and trafficking, vowing to continue operations until the country is cleared of poppy farming and raw materials used in heroin manufacturing.
Officials said the crackdown is part of a broader strategy to weaken illegal supply chains and reduce the influence of drug networks.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to sustained enforcement and improved coordination among security units to prevent the resurgence of narcotics production and trafficking.
