SHARJAH, October 30: Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan has become the first bowler in men’s Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket to claim 200 wickets.
The 28-year-old achieved the historic milestone on Thursday during Afghanistan’s second T20I against Zimbabwe in Sharjah. He reached the landmark by dismissing Zimbabwe batter Tadiwanashe Marumani, who was trapped leg before wicket for two runs in the ninth over.
Rashid achieved the record in his 120th international appearance in the format. He has maintained an impressive bowling average of 13.96 and an economy rate of 6.13, including two five-wicket hauls. His best bowling figures are five wickets for three runs.
The Afghan spinner now leads the all-time wicket-taking list in men’s T20 internationals by 29 wickets ahead of England’s Adil Rashid.
Rashid also became the first Afghanistan bowler to take 200 wickets in One-Day Internationals (ODIs) during a match against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi in October 2025.
His latest achievement marks another significant milestone in Afghanistan cricket history.
