Turkish police have detained 46 suspects in Ankara as part of a security operation ahead of the NATO Summit scheduled for July 7–8, Turkish media reported on Sunday.
Haberturk reported the operation was coordinated by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, in cooperation with the Ankara Police Department’s public security branch and other units.
Authorities said the suspects were identified through technical and physical surveillance. They are accused of posting firearm-related images on social media, having extensive criminal records, and being linked to firearms-related incidents.
Police carried out simultaneous raids at multiple addresses across the city and seized evidence related to alleged criminal activity. The suspects remain in custody as legal procedures continue.
The operation is part of broader security measures across Ankara ahead of the NATO Summit. Security forces have intensified inspections and expanded perimeters around key venues, with officers deployed around the clock.
Turkish authorities said all judicial, administrative, and security measures have been taken to ensure public order and safety before and during the summit. They added that inspections and security operations will continue as preparations intensify for the high-level international gathering.
