NEW YORK, Sept. 23: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has criticized what he described as European double standards over developments during meetings with European counterparts on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Araghchi met with the foreign ministers of France, the Netherlands and Austria, as well as his counterparts from Iraq and Azerbaijan, according to Iran’s Foreign Ministry.
The meetings addressed bilateral relations, regional and international developments, tensions between Iran and the United States, and the Strait of Hormuz, the ministry said.
Araghchi said insecurity in the waterway was caused by what he called aggressive actions by the United States and Israel. He said restoring security depended on Washington ending actions that create insecurity.
He also urged countries to stop support for Israel and called for efforts to prevent what he termed impunity.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry said Araghchi criticized European positions on the conflict and developments.
The United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran on Feb. 28, according to Anadolu. Tehran responded with missile and drone attacks across the region and closed the Strait of Hormuz, a route for energy supplies.
