BARCELONA, November 1: Barcelona returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion, defeating Alaves 6-1 at home on Saturday to retain their position at the top of the Spanish LaLiga standings.
Raphinha and Lamine Yamal scored twice each, while Fermin Lopez and substitute Anthony Gordon also found the net as Barcelona delivered an impressive attacking performance at Spotify Camp Nou.
Raphinha opened the scoring in the eighth minute before Fermin doubled the advantage in the 23rd minute. The Brazilian struck again in the 41st minute, and Yamal added a fourth goal just before half-time.
Yamal completed his brace in the 64th minute, extending Barcelona’s lead to five goals. Gordon then scored in the 81st minute to make it 6-0, before Mariano Diaz netted a late consolation for the visitors.
The victory provided a strong response after Barcelona suffered consecutive defeats against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
Barcelona now have 30 points from 11 matches, two ahead of second-placed Atletico Madrid, who defeated Levante 2-0.
Coach Hansi Flick praised his team’s response and attacking display. Barcelona will next face Aston Villa in the Champions League as they look to maintain their momentum.
