MIRPUR (AJK): Oct 23: Eminrntv local business and political figure Chaudhry Basharat Aslam has demanded the dismissal of a revenue department patwari, Chaudhry Arshad, over alleged land record manipulation, urging the authorities to order a comprehensive inquiry into his conduct.
Addressing a joint press conference accompanying local community elders at the Kashmir Press Club here on Friday, he welcomed the suspension of the patwari by the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner Mirpur but said suspension alone was insufficient.
He appealed to the Chief Justice of the High Court of AJK, the Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the AJK Prime Minister to ensure the official’s dismissal and a thorough investigation into the allegations against him.
Basharat Aslam alleged that his father, Chaudhry Muhammad Aslam, had purchased 40 kanals of land in 1984 in Khasra No. 136, Lehri village of Mirpur district where electricity and water connections were obtained and boundary walls and rooms were constructed. Following his father’s death in 1998, he said, the family had maintained possession of the property
