Erdogan Putin Discuss Bilateral Ties and Black Sea Security

ANKARA, Oct. 7: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed bilateral relations and regional and global issues during a phone call Wednesday, Türkiye’s Communications Directorate said.
Erdogan stressed the importance of efforts to ensure navigational safety in the Black Sea, according to a statement shared by the directorate on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal.
He said Türkiye remains ready to contribute to efforts aimed at launching direct contacts between Russia and Ukraine.
The Turkish president also emphasized the importance of maintaining dialogue and supporting efforts that could contribute to regional stability.
During the call, Erdogan congratulated Putin on his birthday and on his party’s success in the State Duma elections.
The conversation covered bilateral relations and developments affecting regional and international security, according to the statement.
