ISLAMABAD, Sept. 26 — The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has condemned the attack on a Joint Check Post at Aman Mela in Dera Ismail Khan, in which personnel from Pakistan Customs, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and the provincial Excise and Taxation Department were killed and injured.
According to an FBR statement, attackers also fired on an ambulance carrying injured personnel from the post.
The FBR said two Pakistan Customs personnel, Havaldar Farman Ullah and Sepoy Usama, were killed while on duty. Inspector Kashif, Sepoy Afaq Adil, Sepoy Mehboob and Sepoy Affan are receiving medical treatment.
The Board said instructions had been issued to provide necessary support to the bereaved families and injured personnel. It also expressed condolences to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and Excise and Taxation Department over the deaths of their personnel.
The FBR said Pakistan Customs personnel serve at border crossings, frontier districts and other sensitive locations, where they work with law enforcement agencies against smuggling and other illegal activities.
The Board said the attack would not deter its personnel from performing their duties and that Customs posts would remain operational.
The FBR prayed for the highest ranks in Jannah for those killed and a speedy recovery for the injured, while expressing solidarity with their families.
