MIRPUR (AJK), Sept. 15 — A grand walima reception of Advocate Sikandar Saeed Raja, son of Chief Justice Azad Jammu and Kashmir Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan, was held here on Monday with a large number of dignitaries from the higher and subordinate judiciary, legal fraternity, political and social circles, administration and civil society in attendance.
Advocate Sikandar Saeed Raja tied the knot with the daughter of Justice Raza Ali Khan, senior judge of the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The walima was the second reception held in Mirpur and was attended by a large number of guests who congratulated the newlywed couple and extended their best wishes for a happy and prosperous married life.
Among those attending were Justice Raza Ali Khan, Justice Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, Justice Chaudhry Jahandar Khan, Syed Kaleem Shah, District and Sessions Judge Mirpur Jahangir Jerar, Chairman Tax Tribunal Sheikh Rashid Majeed, District and Sessions Judge Raja Athar Ali Khan, District and Sessions Judge Rawalakot Raja Faisal Majeed and Registrar High Court AJK Raja Shamrez Khan. Additional district and sessions judges from Mirpur, Bhimber and Samahni, besides other judicial officers, also attended.
Advocate General AJK Raja Nadeem Khan, Service Tribunal member Raja Shafiq Ullah Khan, President District Bar Association Mirpur Babar Ali Khan and lawyers affiliated with the Supreme Court Bar in Mirpur also attended the reception and congratulated Advocate Sikandar Saeed Raja.
Political leaders, former prime ministers, former ministers, members of the AJK Legislative Assembly, senior bureaucrats and journalists also attended. They included former AJK prime minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, Minister Raja Riasat, AJK MLA Chaudhry Razaq, MLAs Raja Asif and Raja Ayaz Nisar, former ministers Sardar Farooq Sikandar, Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed, Chaudhry Ali Shan Soni and Chaudhry Rukhsar Ahmed Khan.
Secretary Electricity Muhammad Tayyab Chaudhry, former Kashmir Press Club presidents Altaf Hamid Rao and Sajaad Jaraal, General Secretary Sohrab Ahmed Khan, former MLA Raja Maqsood Ahmed Khan, former Kashmir Council member Raja Babar Ali Zulqarnain and prominent businessman and social figure Mian Maqbool were also present.
Officers from the administrations of Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimber, retired DIGs AJK Police Raja Irfan Saleem and Raja Akmal, representatives of civil society, relatives, friends and notables from various areas also attended.
