Hegseth Says US Ukraine Policy Remains Unchanged

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Tuesday denied any change in Washington’s policy toward Ukraine, saying the Pentagon had issued no directives to restrict satellite communications services.
Speaking to reporters in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Hegseth addressed reports that the Pentagon was delaying transfers of Patriot missile interceptors from allied countries to Ukraine.
“We haven’t changed our posture in any way toward the Ukrainians,” he said, adding that the United States also needed to ensure its own forces had sufficient supplies of interceptors.
Hegseth said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was aware of the situation.
Asked about satellite communications provided through the Starshield network, Hegseth said Washington had not withdrawn support. He noted that Starlink services remained subject to their terms of service, with decisions on compliance resting with the provider.
“We haven’t made any directives or anything like that,” he added.
His remarks came amid reports raising questions about the Trump administration’s military assistance to Kyiv and the status of satellite communications used by Ukrainian forces.
