TEHRAN, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) – Iran on Sunday designated Britain’s Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) as “terrorist and hostile” entities over what it described as the British government’s anti-Iran actions.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry said the decision took effect Sunday following a resolution by the Supreme National Security Council.
In a statement, the ministry accused Britain of violating international law and the UN Charter, particularly provisions concerning national sovereignty and actions against other states.
It cited Britain’s alleged involvement in military operations against Iran by making its military bases and facilities available, as well as its designation of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a threat to national security.
The ministry said the measures were taken in accordance with international law and the principle of reciprocity, adding that Britain would bear responsibility for their consequences.
