TEHRAN, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) — Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Wednesday that US President Donald Trump’s dismissal of a proposed peace memorandum with Iran as “a waste of time” exposed Washington’s “contempt for diplomacy.”
In a post on social media platform X, Baghaei responded to Trump’s remarks at a rally in Mississippi on Monday, when he described the ceasefire with Iran as something he had never strongly supported.
Baghaei said Trump’s comments showed that Washington had not genuinely believed in the Islamabad memorandum of understanding and questioned the credibility of US diplomatic commitments.
He accused the United States of repeatedly abandoning commitments and treating international obligations as disposable when they became inconvenient.
Baghaei also criticised European countries and other supporters of Washington, saying they had no justification for continuing to defend US actions or shielding it from accountability.
