DOHA – Katara: The Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, is organizing World Space Week 2026 from October 4 to 7 at the Al Thuraya Planetarium, Building 41, as part of its efforts to promote scientific and astronomical knowledge and encourage children and young people to explore space sciences through a programme combining education, practical activities and entertainment.
The daily activities run from 4pm to 7pm in cooperation with World Space Week Qatar, Suhail Sat and the Sustainable Development Goals Ambassadors Center. The programme includes astronomy shows, scientific films, practical workshops, interactive activities and exploratory competitions, introducing visitors to space, planets and the solar system in simple and engaging ways.
The programme reflects Katara’s efforts to expand its cultural and educational activities to include science, astronomy and innovation. The interactive activities encourage children and young people to ask questions, explore and learn about planets, rockets and space exploration through practical experiences.
The final day on Wednesday, October 7, features several activities and workshops, including From Manuscript to Space, presented by Mohammed, and Launch Power: Principles of Propulsion and Force, presented by the Sustainable Development Goals Ambassadors Center. The sessions introduce participants to basic physical principles related to rocket movement and launch.
Suhail Sat will also present the Rocket Challenge workshop, offering participants a practical experience combining knowledge, innovation and challenge.
The programme also includes exploratory competitions and a photography corner, adding an interactive element to the four-day event.
The opening day featured the Planetarium Ambassadors activity, the film The Great Adventure of the Solar System and the interactive presentation Journey to the Planets. It also included Suhail Sat’s Rocket Design Lab workshop and the Mission to Orbit workshop presented by the Sustainable Development Goals Ambassadors Center.
On Monday, October 5, activities included the film Astronaut 3D, Design a Space World Cover workshop by Lulwa Al Mughaisib, From Waste to Space by Suhail Sat and Space Colours in cooperation with the Sustainable Development Goals Ambassadors Center.
Tuesday’s programme, October 6, includes The Little Perfect Planet, Journey to the Planets, Design Your Planet and The Little Space Engineer, giving children opportunities to use their imagination and knowledge in practical activities related to astronomy and space.

Al Thuraya Planetarium provides a scientific and educational space that brings astronomy and space sciences closer to different segments of society, particularly children and young people, through visual presentations, educational programmes and interactive experiences.
Through World Space Week, the planetarium continues its role in spreading astronomical knowledge and transforming scientific concepts into engaging experiences that encourage discovery while connecting scientific knowledge with imagination and innovation.
