KATARA – DOHA: Katara Cultural Village on Thursday, October 1, 2026, officially launched the Katara International Academy, marking a new step in its efforts to expand its role in education, training and capacity building.
The launch was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager of Katara and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Katara International Academy, during a ceremony held at Building 15 in Katara. The event was attended by officials, academics, experts and other interested participants.
The new academy aims to utilise Katara’s accumulated cultural, professional and intellectual expertise through educational and training programmes designed to meet the needs of individuals and institutions.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Al Sulaiti said the launch represents a new milestone in Katara’s development and a valuable addition to its cultural and knowledge ecosystem.
He stressed that culture and education are complementary paths in developing individuals. Cultural institutions, he noted, possess expertise, experience and knowledge resources that can contribute effectively to developing human capabilities and strengthening professional skills.
Dr. Al Sulaiti explained that the academy’s vision goes beyond offering separate training programmes. It seeks to develop integrated educational and professional pathways that respond to the actual needs of individuals and institutions while connecting theoretical knowledge with practical application.
He said the academy aims to establish itself as a leading platform in Qatar and the region for cultural and professional education and training, connecting knowledge with identity, heritage with innovation, and learning with sustainable impact.
He added that the academy’s true value lies in enhancing participants’ knowledge and skills and transforming what they learn into practical practices that improve their performance and contribute to the development of their institutions.
Dr. Hassan Abdullah Al Mannai, Director General of Katara International Academy, outlined the academy’s vision and programmes, explaining that it focuses on professional training and academic education.
Dr. Mohammed Khalid Al Hajri, Deputy Director General of Katara International Academy, outlined the academy’s areas of work and services. He explained that the academy’s programmes are designed around the specific outcomes and skills participants are expected to acquire after completing training.
Based on these requirements, the academy determines the content, selects trainers and develops activities and assessment tools, ensuring that training is linked to clear needs and measurable outcomes.
Dr. Al Hajri said institutions can cooperate with the academy through several options, including specialised programmes for employees, integrated development pathways for specific professional groups, annual joint training plans and customised programmes based on each institution’s needs and challenges.
Training can be conducted either at Katara or at the premises of beneficiary institutions, depending on the nature and requirements of each programme.
During the launch ceremony, agreements were also signed with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Al Adasa Media Network to strengthen the exchange of knowledge and expertise and create opportunities for developing joint programmes and initiatives.
The academy offers educational and professional programmes designed to support individuals and institutions through specialised knowledge, practical training and skills development. It aims to build partnerships with academic and professional institutions and expand its programmes in line with emerging educational and training needs.
