LOS ANGELES, August 30 (Xinhua): NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope was successfully launched Sunday aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Kennedy Space Center in Florida, beginning an ambitious mission to explore some of the universe’s greatest mysteries.
The powerful space observatory will map billions of galaxies, study the nature of dark energy and dark matter, and search for planets beyond the solar system.
Scientists expect the Roman Space Telescope to provide a wider view of the universe and help researchers understand how galaxies formed and evolved over cosmic history.
The mission represents a major step in NASA’s continuing efforts to explore the universe and answer fundamental questions about its structure, expansion and the existence of distant worlds beyond our solar system.
