MIRPUR (AJK): Sept 11: A team from the National Institute of Health (NIH), Islamabad, conducted a detailed visit to the Divisional Headquarters and Teaching Hospital Mirpur on Friday to assess the benefits of establishing a Divisional Public Health Reference Laboratory.
The NIH team was led by molecular biologist Sadia Majeed, affiliated with IDSRs, and accompanied by the institute’s engineering team.
During the visit, the team inspected existing laboratory facilities at the Divisional Headquarters and Teaching Hospital Mirpur. It also examined different sections of the space proposed for the establishment of the Divisional Public Health Reference Laboratory and took necessary measurements.
Medical Superintendent Divisional Headquarters and Teaching Hospital Mirpur Prof. Dr Ijaz Ahmed briefed the NIH team about the hospital’s laboratory and other diagnostic facilities.
Assistant Professor and Pathologist Dr Muhammad Kaleem briefed the team about ongoing diagnostic services, available facilities and the existing laboratory system at the hospital.
According to the hospital administration, establishment of the Divisional Public Health Reference Laboratory, under ongoing measures to further improve diagnostic facilities, is a significant development towards strengthening healthcare and diagnostic services in Mirpur Division.
The reference laboratory is expected to promote modern diagnostic services, facilitate timely and reliable diagnosis of various diseases and improve the provision of quality healthcare to patients.
The hospital administration said modern laboratory facilities would enhance diagnostic capacity and pave the way for residents of Mirpur Division to access quality and advanced diagnostic services locally.
