NAGOYA, Japan, Sept. 23: North Korean weightlifter Ri Song Gum broke three world records on Wednesday while winning her third consecutive Asian Games gold medal in Nagoya.
The 28-year-old athlete produced a remarkable performance in the women’s competition, lifting 94 kilograms in the snatch to surpass the previous world record by one kilogram.
Ri continued her outstanding display in the clean and jerk and total categories, setting new world marks and securing another continental title.
She previously won Asian Games gold at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games and the 2023 Hangzhou Games. Her latest victory makes her a three-time Asian Games champion.
