One person was killed and four others injured after a man opened fire in northern France on Friday morning, French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu announced.
“Very serious incidents have just occurred in Trappes, in the Yvelines department. One person has been killed and four others injured. The individual has been arrested and placed in police custody,” Lecornu wrote on X.
He said security forces were fully mobilized, while France’s National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office was monitoring the situation.
According to broadcaster BFMTV, the suspect reportedly fired multiple shots from a vehicle in public areas in Trappes and later in La Verriere.
The death toll could change as the situation develops.
