Chinese Consul General Visits MNSUAM, Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthen Pakistan-China Agricultural and Educational Cooperation

Multan, September 10, 2026: Consul General of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Sun Yan, visited Muhammad Nawaz Shareef University of Agriculture Multan on September 10, 2026. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asif Ali (T.I.) warmly welcomed the distinguished guest and the Chinese delegation and briefed them on the university’s remarkable achievements in a short period, particularly in education, research, international collaborations, ongoing joint research projects with Chinese institutions, and its growing global recognition and rankings.
During the visit, Consul General Sun Yan interacted with faculty members and students who have benefited from various scholarships, fellowships, training programmes, and PhD and postdoctoral opportunities in China. He also met graduates who participated in training programmes in China, including the Prime Minister’s 1,000 Agricultural Graduates Training Programme.
A special session was also held with students who had completed diploma programmes through collaboration between Muhammad Nawaz Shareef University of Agriculture Multan and Chinese institutions. The students shared their experiences, achievements, and learning gained through the collaborative programmes.
A major highlight of the visit was the inauguration of the Sino-Pak Guard Cotton Lab, a state-of-the-art facility established with financial support from Guard Agro Services Pakistan. The laboratory is expected to play an important role in advancing cotton research, innovation and technology while strengthening industry-academia collaboration in the cotton sector. The Chinese delegation also visited the university’s cotton experimental fields and observed the performance of different cotton varieties developed through Pakistan-China collaborative research.
Speaking on the occasion, Consul General Sun Yan expressed confidence that the next 75 years of Pakistan-China friendship would be even more progressive and successful than the previous 75 years. He appreciated the research and academic activities being undertaken by Muhammad Nawaz Shareef University of Agriculture Multan in collaboration with Chinese institutions and acknowledged the university’s contribution to strengthening Pakistan-China cooperation in agriculture and education.
Stalls showcasing Pakistani and Chinese cultures were also arranged on the occasion. A cake-cutting ceremony was held to celebrate 75 years of Pakistan-China friendship, reflecting the enduring bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
The visit was described as an important step towards further strengthening Pakistan-China cooperation in education, science, research and agriculture. Muhammad Nawaz Shareef University of Agriculture Multan reaffirmed its commitment to deepening its partnerships with Chinese institutions and contributing effectively to Pakistan’s agricultural development through modern research, innovation, technology and knowledge exchange.
