BEIJING, Sept. 29 — The Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing commemorated Defence and Martyrs Day with a ceremony paying tribute to the courage, professionalism and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in defending the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Lt. Gen. Luo Huiqi, Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection and Director of the Supervisory Commission of the PLA Army, attended the ceremony as Chief Guest. Senior Chinese civil and military officials, diplomats, Defence Attachés, media representatives, members of the Pakistani community and embassy officials also attended.
The ceremony opened with the national anthems of Pakistan and China, performed by students of Pakistan Embassy College Beijing. Documentaries highlighted the heroism and sacrifices of Pakistan’s Armed Forces during the 1965 war, along with their contributions to disaster relief, international peacekeeping and regional and international peace and stability.
In his welcome remarks, Brigadier Ali Asghar Khan, Defence and Army Attaché, highlighted the professionalism and dedication of Pakistan’s Armed Forces in safeguarding the country.
Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Aizaz Khan paid tribute to the martyrs who lost their lives defending Pakistan. He also highlighted the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation for regional peace, stability and security.
The ceremony concluded with an exchange of souvenirs between the Chief Guest, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. and Defence and Army Attaché, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony.
