ALMATY, Nov. 3 – Pakistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to strengthen economic relations, expand bilateral trade and explore new investment opportunities during a meeting between Pakistan’s Federal Minister Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh and Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Serjan Zhumangarin.
Sheikh emphasized greater business-to-business cooperation, private-sector engagement and improved banking channels to facilitate trade and investment.
He identified opportunities in e-commerce, warehousing, textiles and mining, noting that Kazakhstan’s affordable energy could attract Pakistani investment in the textile industry.
He also called for early implementation of agreements signed during President Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to Kazakhstan in February.
Zhumangarin expressed interest in a visit by Pakistan’s prime minister and said Kazakhstan had developed a five-year roadmap to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
He highlighted Pakistan’s market of around 250 million people and said Kazakhstan could serve as a gateway for Pakistani businesses to the wider Eurasian market.
Both sides also stressed the importance of direct air connectivity to promote business, trade and people-to-people exchanges.
The Kazakh deputy prime minister informed that his country’s foreign minister would visit Pakistan to attend the preparatory meeting for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to stronger economic partnerships through improved connectivity and implementation of existing agreements
