MIRPUR (AJK): Sept 9: Newly-elected Member of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly belongong to the PML (N) Ms. Sehrish Qamar has said that Pakistan could effectively confront the challenges it faces today only through national unity, prudent policies and strong institutional cooperation, rising above political and personal differences.

Talking to reporters here, she said peace, stability and economic development of Pakistan were the collective responsibility of the entire nation. The political leadership and state institutions must place national interest, supremacy of the Constitution and public welfare at the top of their priorities, she added.

Ms. Sehrish Qamar said that Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had played his political role in promoting Pakistan’s development, democratic process and resolution of public issues during his terms in office.
She said the constitutional responsibilities of institutions entrusted with the country’s defence and security, as well as their role in national defence, should also be appreciated.

Ms. Sehrish Qamar said Pakistan’s strength was not the success of any individual, political party or institution, but the collective success of its 250 million people.

She stressed the need to move beyond personalities and focus on strengthening institutions, upholding the Constitution, ensuring economic stability, securing a better future for the youth and providing basic facilities to the people.

Speaking about Kashmir, she said the Kashmir issue remained a national priority for Pakistan and that the country continued its political, diplomatic and moral support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

She said the people of Azad Kashmir also needed practical measures to provide them with employment, education, healthcare, infrastructure and greater economic opportunities.

Ms. Sehrish Qamar said the PML-N government to be formed in Azad Kashmir would, God willing, take practical steps to improve the people’s standard of living and provide better employment opportunities to the youth. She said Pakistan today needed unity rather than polarization, dialogue rather than confrontation, and hope rather than despair.
The political leadership, state institutions, media, civil society and the people must work together to build a strong, peaceful, democratic and economically stable Pakistan, she added
