NAGOYA — Pakistan reached the men’s T20 cricket final at the 2026 Asian Games on Thursday after defeating Bangladesh by six wickets in a rain-shortened semi-final.
Bangladesh scored 112 in 13 overs after being asked to bat first. Pakistan reached the revised target with Abdul Samad unbeaten on 30 from 15 balls. Sufyan Moqim was Pakistan’s leading bowler, taking three wickets for 26 runs.
Pakistan will face India in Saturday’s gold-medal match after India defeated Sri Lanka by 124 runs in the other semi-final.
India posted 169 for seven, with Ishan Kishan scoring an unbeaten 80 from 46 balls. Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi contributed 38 runs on his Asian Games debut.
Sri Lanka were bowled out for 45 in 9.5 overs. India’s Jasprit Bumrah took two early wickets, while Abhishek Sharma also claimed two wickets in five deliveries.
The final will bring Pakistan and India together for the Asian Games gold medal. India won the men’s cricket gold at the 2023 Hangzhou Games and will seek to retain the title.
The cricket competition is being held as part of the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
