Pakistan’s Army has successfully test-launched the extended-range version of the Fatah-2 hypersonic ballistic missile, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said Tuesday.
According to ISPR, the Fatah-2 extended-range missile features advanced navigation systems and modern avionics, enabling it to engage targets with high precision.
The military said the weapon’s distinctive trajectory and manoeuvrability allow it to overcome enemy missile defence systems. Its extended range is also expected to enhance the army’s ability to strike targets deep within adversary territory.
The test was witnessed by Army Rocket Force Command chief Lt. Gen. Nauman Zakaria, senior military officers, scientists and engineers.
ISPR said the commander praised the scientists and engineers for their dedication and technical expertise.
The president, prime minister and chief of defence forces also congratulated the scientists and engineers on the successful test, according to the military’s statement.
The development follows another recent missile test in Pakistan. Last week, the extended-range version of the domestically developed Fatah-IV ground-launched cruise missile was also successfully test-launched, ISPR said.
The military described the Fatah-IV system as equipped with advanced avionics and navigation aids, enabling precision strikes at extended ranges.
The latest test highlights Pakistan’s continued efforts to develop indigenous missile technology and strengthen its conventional defence capabilities through advances in precision targeting and extended-range strike systems.
