Pakistan Swimmers Miss Asian Games 50m Breaststroke Final

TOKYO, Sept. 20: Pakistan swimmers Hareem Malik and Mishael Aisha Hyat failed to advance from the women’s 50-metre breaststroke heats at the 20th Asian Games on Sunday.
Malik finished 22nd overall with a time of 36.52 seconds, while Hyat placed 24th after clocking 37.02 seconds at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre.
China’s Tang Qianting topped the overall standings after winning her heat in 29.50 seconds. Japan’s Satomi Suzuki finished second in 30.35 seconds, followed by China’s Yang Chang in 30.56 seconds.
The top 10 swimmers advanced to the final. Tang, Suzuki and Yang were among those securing qualification.
Pakistan’s swimmers were unable to progress as the Asian Games continued across Japan, with athletes competing in swimming and other sports.
The women’s 50m breaststroke is one of several events featuring Asian athletes at the Games, which bring together competitors from across the continent.
