ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and the United Kingdom have expressed concern over the continuing threat posed by terrorist groups operating in and from Afghanistan, including the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), according to Pakistan’s Foreign Office.
The concerns were raised during the annual Pakistan-UK bilateral counter-terrorism dialogue held in Islamabad, a day before the latest statement.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the evolving regional and global security environment and exchanged views on threats posed by terrorist organisations, including transnational networks.
They stressed the urgent need for a stable and secure Afghanistan, describing it as essential for lasting peace and prosperity across the region. The discussions also highlighted the continuing security challenges posed by militant groups operating across borders.
Pakistan and the UK have maintained an Enhanced Strategic Dialogue since 2011, providing a framework for broader cooperation between the two countries.
The dialogue covers several areas, including trade, economic growth, development, cultural cooperation, security and education. It has helped deepen and broaden bilateral engagement and strengthen cooperation on shared priorities.
