DOHA, Qatar – September 3, 2026 – The Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, today concluded a landmark visit to Doha, marked by a highly engaging community event hosted by the Pakistan Business Council Qatar (PBCQ). The gathering underscored the strong Pakistan-Qatar ties and the Pakistani diaspora’s invaluable contributions to the host nation’s development.
The well-attended event, hosted by PBCQ President Mr. Mohammed Israr Malazai, featured addresses from community leaders and the Minister. Welcoming the delegation, Mr. Malazai said:
“On behalf of the Pakistan Business Council Qatar, we extend our warmest welcome to His Excellency Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain. Our community stands united in its commitment to strengthening the historic bonds between Pakistan and Qatar. PBCQ Chairman Mr. Fawad Rana welcomed and briefed the Minister on Qatar’s business and trade environment. Mr. Fawad Rana expressed:

Addressing the gathering, Minister Hussain explained the purpose of his visit, building upon the outcomes of his high-level meetings with Qatari officials. He expressed deep appreciation for the Pakistani community, acknowledging their active and pivotal role in Qatar’s infrastructure development:
“Your hard work and dedication have made you an integral part of Qatar’s growth story, and we are immensely proud of your contributions.”
The Minister further emphasized the immense pride that Pakistan takes in its overseas diaspora, highlighting their critical role in the nation’s economic stability:
“Our overseas Pakistanis are our greatest ambassadors. Your unwavering support through remittances not only strengthens our national economy but also enhances the pride and prestige of Pakistan on the global stage. Each remittance sent home is a testament to your love for the homeland and your commitment to the prosperity of your families and the nation.”
He noted that Pakistan’s overseas community continues to be the backbone of the country’s foreign exchange reserves, and the government remains committed to facilitating and protecting their interests abroad. The Minister also highlighted Pakistan’s strategic shift from merely increasing worker numbers to improving the quality of skilled and employable labour, aligning with Qatar National Vision 2030:
“We are moving beyond traditional labour exports. Our focus now is on creating a skilled, certified, and demand-driven workforce that not only meets the evolving needs of host countries like Qatar but also elevates the profile of Pakistani workers globally. This is a source of great pride for Pakistan and a key pillar of our human resource development strategy.”
A key highlight of the event was the open dialogue between the Minister and community members, focused on enhancing services provided by the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development. Discussions explored the creation of a unified platform to better understand and address issues faced by the Pakistani community, ensuring concerns are resolved through streamlined mechanisms.
The Minister also outlined measures to strengthen and formalize the integration of new entrants into Qatar’s human resources landscape. Emphasizing structured, demand-driven mobility, he detailed Pakistan’s commitment to certified skills training, mandatory pre-departure orientation, and alignment with Qatari employers’ evolving needs – key elements of the broader Pakistan-Qatar Human Resource Corridor.
“We want every Pakistani worker in Qatar to be not just a contributor to the economy but a source of pride for Pakistan. Through enhanced training, welfare measures, and transparent recruitment, we aim to ensure that our diaspora continues to excel and earns the respect and recognition they deserve.”
The Minister was accompanied by Mr. Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, Federal Secretary, Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development; Mr. Waqar Chohan, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Pakistan; Mr. Osama Idress, and Mr. Mohasin Qureshi, Community Welfare Attaché at the Pakistan Embassy in Qatar. Their presence underscored the government’s commitment to diaspora engagement.
Prior to the community engagement, Minister Hussain held productive discussions with Qatari counterparts, including HE Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri, Minister of Labour, and HE Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Faisal Al-Thani, Minister of State for Interior Affairs. The talks, held in a fraternal atmosphere, focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in labour and human resource development.
Key outcomes included an agreement to establish an institutional cooperation mechanism and a joint working group to coordinate skilled labour requirements, facilitate recruitment procedures, and align training programs with Qatar’s evolving needs. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to building the Pakistan-Qatar Human Resource Corridor, moving beyond traditional recruitment toward certified skills, responsible employment, and demand-driven mobility in support of Qatar National Vision 2030.
