The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made significant additions to its coaching staff, with Gary Kirsten set to join as white-ball head coach on May 19, while Simon Helmot will serve as the fielding coach. Additionally, David Reid has been appointed as the team’s mental performance coach, marking the first time such a role has been introduced. Kirsten, currently involved in the Indian Premier League (IPL), will kick off his tenure just before Pakistan’s T20I series against England. Meanwhile, Helmot will join the team on May 31, ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup. The PCB’s move to prioritize mental well-being, as evidenced by Reid’s appointment, underscores their commitment to the holistic development of players. Kirsten expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to work with the talented Pakistani team, emphasizing the importance of collective effort and meticulous planning for success in the upcoming T20 World Cup. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the board’s commitment to safeguarding players’ mental health and well-being.
