PCB marks 15 years of T20 World Cup 2009 Triumph in 53rd Podcast Episode

Lahore, 4 June 2024: In the 53rd edition of the PCB Podcast, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) celebrates 15 years since Pakistan’s men’s cricket team won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2009. This celebration coincides with the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

The latest episode, available for viewing and free download, features interviews with key players from the 2009 campaign, where Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the final at Lord’s on 21 June 2009.

Under Younis Khan’s leadership, Pakistan won four consecutive matches to claim the title. They defeated New Zealand (six wickets), Ireland (39 runs), South Africa (seven runs), and Sri Lanka (eight wickets). Their other victory was against the Netherlands (82 runs), with losses to England (48 runs) and Sri Lanka (19 runs).

This victory followed a narrow loss in the 2007 T20 World Cup final and was Pakistan’s first ICC title in 17 years.
