ISLAMABAD, Sept. 7: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has launched an internal disciplinary inquiry following media reports concerning discipline and conduct within the national cricket setup.
PCB media director Amir Mir said Monday that the matter was being reviewed under the board’s regulations and that all concerned individuals would be given due consideration.
The inquiry comes amid reports involving former Test players Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan. However, the PCB has not officially named either player or confirmed reports that their mobile-phone data was obtained during Pakistan’s England tour.
The board urged the public and stakeholders not to treat speculative or unverified claims as established facts and said it would not provide further details while the process continues.
The development follows major changes to Pakistan’s Test squad after heavy defeats against England. Seven players, including Imam and Rizwan, were released from the squad, while Sarfaraz Ahmed was replaced by Mike Hesson on an interim basis ahead of the third Test at Edgbaston.
