ISLAMABAD, Oct. 4: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday paid tribute to teachers in Pakistan and around the world on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, recognising their vital role in educating youth and shaping the future of nations.
The Prime Minister said teachers help develop students’ abilities, knowledge, character and confidence while promoting critical thinking, creativity, ethical values and lifelong learning.
He stressed that Pakistan’s progress is closely linked to the quality of its education system and the dedication of its teachers. He said education must respond to emerging challenges including artificial intelligence, climate change, technological development and changing employment needs.
Shehbaz Sharif said the government remains committed to providing quality and equal educational opportunities. He highlighted the expansion of Danish Schools to provide talented and deserving students, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, access to quality education.
He also highlighted the establishment of the National Institute of Excellence in Teacher Education in Islamabad to support professional development, research and innovation among teachers.
The Prime Minister said curriculum reforms were being pursued with provinces and other stakeholders, while technical and vocational training programmes were being expanded through NAVTTC and the Prime Minister’s Youth Skills Development Programme.
He paid special tribute to teachers serving in remote and underdeveloped areas, calling their services a national contribution. He urged teachers to continue their duties with sincerity and dedication
