NEW YORK, Sept. 25 — Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan V on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The Prime Minister warmly welcomed Prince Rahim and recalled their meeting during his visit to Pakistan earlier this year. He appreciated the Aga Khan’s commitment to strengthening longstanding relations with Pakistan and expressed the desire for continued cooperation on peace, stability and development.
Shehbaz Sharif praised the Ismaili community’s longstanding contributions to Pakistan’s socioeconomic development, particularly through civic engagement and community service.
He also acknowledged the role of Aga Khan Development Network institutions in financial inclusion, tourism, cultural preservation and community-based economic empowerment. He called for greater cooperation in these areas to support sustainable and inclusive development.
Prince Rahim appreciated the Prime Minister’s sentiments and commended his efforts for regional peace and stability amid ongoing conflict in the region.
He reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening the partnership between Pakistan and AKDN and expressed interest in expanding cooperation in healthcare, education, climate resilience and sustainable socioeconomic development.
The Prime Minister invited Prince Rahim to make regular visits to Pakistan to further strengthen bilateral ties.
