ISLAMABAD, Sept. 8: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has sought recommendations from Pakistan’s business community to strengthen export-led growth and address challenges facing exporters.
Addressing industrialists and business leaders in Islamabad on Tuesday, the prime minister stressed the need for greater cooperation between the government and private sector to expand exports and improve economic competitiveness.
Shehbaz said Pakistan’s economic progress depends on increasing exports, promoting investment and creating an environment where businesses can grow. He urged representatives of the business community to identify practical obstacles and suggest measures to help expand the country’s export base.
The meeting focused on structural reforms, tax-related issues and measures to improve the business environment. The government also highlighted recent enforcement efforts that it said had helped recover significant revenues.
The prime minister called for a clear and coordinated strategy involving both public institutions and the private sector. He emphasized that exporters should be supported through improved policies, easier procedures and stronger institutional cooperation.
The government has placed export expansion at the center of its broader economic strategy.
