MIRPUR (AJK), August 29: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maria Iqbal Tarana has said the PML-N government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), under the leadership of Prime Minister Barrister Iftikhar Ali Gilani, will work to address public grievances, the sense of deprivation and growing concerns among the people.
Speaking to journalists during her meeting with members of the Kashmir Press Club Mirpur on Saturday, she said the people of AJK had long faced challenges related to basic facilities, infrastructure, employment, education, healthcare and other essential sectors.
Tarana said addressing these issues would remain a key priority of the PML-N government, which would pursue a comprehensive development agenda aimed at improving living standards and ensuring balanced development across the state.
Referring to development initiatives in Punjab under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, she said the PML-N’s development-oriented vision would also be reflected in AJK. She said Punjab’s focus on public welfare, infrastructure development and improved service delivery could provide useful direction for accelerating development in Azad Kashmir.
Tarana particularly emphasised creating greater opportunities for youth, describing them as the state’s most valuable asset. She called for greater attention to education, skills development, employment and modern technology to enable young people to contribute effectively to the socio-economic development of AJK.
She said Mirpur and other districts required special attention in roads, infrastructure, healthcare, education and basic services. Development projects, she added, should be implemented transparently and according to public needs.
Tarana also stressed cooperation among the government, media, civil society and other stakeholders in identifying and resolving public issues.
Appreciating journalists’ role in highlighting public concerns, she said constructive government-media interaction could contribute to better governance and effective resolution of grievances.
