Poland has declared two days of national mourning following a deadly shooting in Krakow that killed six people and injured several others.
President Karol Nawrocki signed a decree declaring November 8 and 9 as national mourning days, according to a statement from the president’s spokesman.
The attack took place on Saturday afternoon when a gunman drove into Main Market Square in Krakow, Poland’s second-largest city, and opened fire randomly at people.
The attacker, reportedly inspired by far-right ideology, killed six people, including a British national, and wounded several others.
The mourning period began at midnight, with national flags lowered to half-mast across the country.
Government websites displayed black ribbons on their logos, while television and radio broadcasters adjusted their programmes. Entertainment events were also cancelled as a mark of respect for the victims.
