Advisor to Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Qatar Finalized Preparations for High-Level UNGA 81 Participation
Doha, September 17 (QNA) – Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari affirmed that the State of Qatar has finalized its preparations for high-level participation in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 81), taking place this September at the UN headquarters in New York under the theme “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All”, amidst a highly critical international climate resulting from regional tensions witnessed since last February.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Dr. Al Ansari said that Qatari officials will hold a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings with counterparts from various countries and representatives of international and regional organizations on the sidelines of the upcoming session. These meetings will address ways to strengthen relations across various fields, open new avenues for cooperation, and deepen strategic partnerships, in addition to reviewing regional and international developments and means of de-escalating tensions in the region.
Qatar’s participation this year will focus on supporting international peace and security, promoting dialogue, mediation, and de-escalation, upholding respect for international law and the UN Charter, strengthening multilateralism and restoring confidence in the international system, supporting sustainable development and humanitarian efforts, ensuring aid reaches the neediest groups and countries, and continuing mediation efforts despite the crises and challenges facing the region.
