MOSCOW, Nov. 3 (AA) – Russia, the United States and China are discussing a possible trilateral meeting between their presidents later this month, the Kremlin said Tuesday.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the Financial Times that preparations for the meeting were underway.
The proposed talks could take place on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit on Nov. 18-19 in Shenzhen, China.
The meeting would bring together Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
However, China has not confirmed its participation. Its Foreign Ministry said Beijing was in contact with relevant parties about a possible meeting between Xi and Putin.
It remains unclear whether the three countries are holding joint or separate bilateral discussions.
Last month, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said no party had ruled out the meeting. He confirmed that the proposal was discussed during Putin’s Oct. 21 meeting with US special envoy Steve Witkoff in St. Petersburg.
Peskov said Monday that Putin’s APEC schedule was still being prepared, with no final decision on the proposed meeting.
