KIEV, October 10 (rki.news) – At least 12 people were injured and thousands of households left without electricity after Russian missile and drone strikes targeted the Ukrainian capital early Friday, according to local authorities.
Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram that the attacks struck critical infrastructure on the left bank of the Dnipro River, causing blackouts and water supply disruptions in several districts. Two residential buildings and several vehicles were also damaged.
Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kiev Regional State Administration, confirmed that about 28,000 households across the wider Kiev region lost power following direct hits on energy facilities.
In the nearby city of Brovary, three apartment blocks, four commercial premises, and multiple vehicles sustained damage from the overnight assault.
Ukraine’s largest private energy company, DTEK, said its engineers had begun emergency repairs to restore electricity and stabilize the power grid.
Friday’s strikes mark another escalation in Russia’s ongoing attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure as winter approaches, raising concerns over renewed power shortages and worsening humanitarian conditions for civilians across the capital region.
