More than 600,000 people in Ukraine’s Dnipro city and surrounding region were left without electricity following overnight Russian strikes on energy infrastructure, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Sunday.
In a statement posted on Telegram, Zelenskyy said the situation was also difficult in the Kharkiv region, where power outages affected several areas.
He added that 140 apartment buildings in the Zhytomyr region were without heating following Russian shelling. Repair teams were working across affected cities and communities.
Zelenskyy also said rescue operations continued for the seventh consecutive day after an airstrike killed 55 people. He warned that people could still be trapped under the rubble.
According to Zelenskyy, Russia launched 115 missiles, nearly 1,900 guided aerial bombs and more than 3,000 attack drones against Ukrainian cities and communities over the past week.
He urged international partners to strengthen pressure on Russia’s military production sector and called for a strong 22nd package of European Union sanctions.
Russia has not commented on the latest claims. Independent verification remains difficult amid the ongoing conflict.
