Nineteen people have been killed and 364 injured in Houthi attacks targeting airports in Saudi Arabia, including King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Abha International Airport, the Saudi-led coalition said Thursday.
Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said the attacks had intensified since the beginning of October. He said King Khalid International Airport had been targeted 20 times since October began.
According to the spokesman, 17 people were killed and 333 injured in attacks on the Riyadh airport between October 7 and 11.
Two people were killed and 28 injured in an attack on Abha International Airport in the southwestern Asir region. Another three people were injured in an attack targeting King Abdullah International Airport in the southwestern Jazan region.
Official Saudi sources reported that five airports, including Riyadh’s main airport, had come under Houthi attacks since October 5. The attacks reportedly caused casualties, property damage and disruptions to air traffic.
The coalition attributed the attacks to Yemen’s Houthi group, which it said had escalated its actions against Saudi Arabia in recent months.
