KARACHI, Sept. 14 — Haj and Umrah pilgrims, work visa holders and passengers planning to stay in Saudi Arabia for more than six months will be required to carry a National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra)-linked vaccination certificate when travelling from Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport from Sept. 25.
Border Health Services-Pakistan (BHS-P) has extended the implementation deadline from Sept. 14 to 10am on Sept. 25 following requests from related agencies.
The requirement covers mandatory influenza, meningitis and polio vaccinations for Umrah pilgrims, work visa holders and people intending to remain in Saudi Arabia for more than six months.
BHS-P International Health Regulation Focal Person Dr Syed Ghulam Murtaza Shah confirmed that the Nadra-linked vaccination certificate requirement also applies to workers and passengers staying longer than six months.
The initiative is expected to be extended to other airports in the future.
Airlines have been directed to inform travel agents that only Nadra-linked vaccination proof will be accepted. Umrah pilgrims must obtain a digital vaccine card from an authorised vaccination centre before departure.
Vaccination and online registration facilities will also be available at the airport. Passengers requiring vaccination there have been advised to arrive six hours before their flights.
