ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday inaugurated a Daanish School in Islamabad, reaffirming his government’s aim to provide quality education to talented students from underprivileged backgrounds.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the prime minister said every child deserved equal educational opportunities, regardless of family wealth or social status. He highlighted the achievements of Daanish School graduates, including a woman from Bahawalpur who became a doctor after losing her father during childhood and a girl from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who overcame significant challenges.
Shehbaz said the Daanish Schools initiative was launched in Punjab in 2010 to provide disadvantaged children with education comparable to that offered by leading institutions, including Aitchison College.
He observed that wealthy families could afford the best schools in Pakistan and abroad, while many talented children from poor households lacked access to quality education.
The prime minister said leaving disadvantaged children without proper educational opportunities was contrary to the vision of Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
The Daanish Schools programme provides educational opportunities to talented students from marginalised backgrounds and operates boarding schools for boys and girls.
According to the report, the foundation stone of the Islamabad school was laid in 2024, with 10 acres allocated by the Capital Development Authority.
Education Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui also addressed the ceremony. The prime minister interacted with students during his visit to the campus.
