DAMASCUS, October 15: Syria’s state postal service dispatched its first batch of international parcels in more than a decade on Thursday, restoring outbound postal services to five countries, state news agency SANA reported.

The Syrian Postal Corporation sent parcels to the United States, the Netherlands, Sweden, Algeria and Qatar as part of efforts to reconnect the country with international postal networks.

The dispatch followed the corporation’s October 1 announcement that international parcel services had resumed through the Universal Postal Union network after the restoration of its capacity to receive shipments from abroad.

Incoming international parcels resumed on July 1, with the first shipment arriving from neighbouring Jordan through Damascus International Airport on July 5.

The restoration of postal services forms part of broader efforts to rebuild Syria’s communications and logistics infrastructure after years of conflict and economic disruption.
