Time Is the Balm for the Wounds of Worries!

Columnist: Zafar Iqbal Zafar
Worries have swallowed many years of my life, which were precious and valuable years. Now I feel that they were wasted not because of anyone else but because of my own stupidity.
Worried about everything, I have been so afraid of my work, health, family, and my inferiority complex that I would avoid acquaintances and cross the road using the excuse of not seeing those I met, because I was afraid of showing indifference. I was nervous when meeting strangers, I was unable to make room for people individually and collectively, I was unable to act according to my own ideas, and then the power of self-confidence overcame this situation. Freedom from this situation became the beginning of a new life and cutting life turned into living life.
I met a person who was in more trouble and suffering than I, but he did not have a single blemish on his forehead. I have rarely seen a happy, cheerful person like him. He had earned a lot of money, which was wasted. After a while, his star of fortune shone again and his affairs became smooth, but he again fell into bad times. After the bankruptcy, his enemies, even his debts, started following him like dogs all the time. If so many difficulties had befallen a weak-hearted person, he would have lost courage and panicked and become ready to commit suicide. But this person was passing through the difficulties like water off a duck’s head.
Seeing this, I was praying to God that O God, please make me like this. During our conversation, he handed me a letter and said, “Read it.” This letter was full of anger and bitterness. It raised countless complex and confusing questions. If I had received it, I would have been confused about what to do or not to do. I asked him, “What would you answer?” He said, “Listen, I’ll tell you a little secret. The next time something really bothers you, sit down with a pencil and a piece of paper and write down in detail why you’re upset. Then put this piece of paper in the right drawer of your desk. It will be perfectly safe to take out this piece of paper and look at it after two weeks. It won’t hurt anything. But during this period, a lot can happen to the problem that is bothering you. I have often seen that if you exercise a little patience and forbearance, the trouble that so often humbles me, then it collapses automatically like a paper balloon.
Write down your worries on a piece of paper, or rather, write down as many big and small worries as you can, and keep it somewhere for a few weeks. When you take it out and look at it, nothing will have changed on that paper. And when we are faced with some problems written in our destiny, then the whole person surrenders to it and insults life. If we are living, many are also living because of us. You are also the reason for the smile on their lips. The handkerchief that wipes away tears is also in your hand. A piece of paper written with problems and worries made me understand that if you cannot save it, then be steadfast. They will come under the dust of time and lose their identity. Then they will remember them sometimes, but they will not remain as bitter memories and dominate the mind all the time. I am presenting this small and inspiring advice to your court of consciousness. Do you know that you will find a way of thinking that will help you to form a strategy for solving them by reducing or eliminating the effects of worries and helping you to overcome unpleasant situations. Time is the key to those countless problems. There is a solution to the problems you are worried about today
