Aug. 12: A total solar eclipse is sweeping across parts of the Northern Hemisphere today, creating a rare astronomical spectacle for skywatchers around the world.
The Moon is passing directly between Earth and the Sun, completely blocking the Sun along a narrow path of totality. Totality is visible across parts of Greenland, Iceland, northern Russia and northern Spain, while millions of people in other areas are witnessing a partial eclipse.
The event has drawn astronomy enthusiasts and photographers to selected locations to observe and capture the phenomenon.
