WASHINGTON, Nov. 4 (AA) – US President Donald Trump on Wednesday blamed Fox News for Republican losses in the midterm elections, accusing the network of giving too much airtime to Democratic figures and undermining conservative candidates.
“Fox News bears responsibility for these losses by constantly and consistently putting on the Democrat opposition, and worse,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.
He particularly criticized the network for inviting former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio to appear on air and discuss governing the country. Trump questioned the decision and made critical remarks about de Blasio’s record in office.
Trump has repeatedly criticized Fox News commentators and editorial decisions when their views differed from his political positions.
His comments came as US media projected that Democrats had won control of the Senate and were on course to secure a majority in the House of Representatives.
The election results could limit Trump’s legislative agenda and increase Democratic influence over congressional decisions during the remainder of his presidency.
