US President Donald Trump held rallies in Iowa and Kansas on Sunday, urging voters to support Republican candidates in Tuesday’s midterm elections and maintain the party’s control of Congress.
Addressing supporters in Dubuque, Iowa, and Salina, Kansas, Trump called for Republican victories in both the House of Representatives and Senate.
“If you elect a Republican House and Republican Senate on November 3rd, we will continue to put America first every single day,” Trump told supporters in Kansas.
He outlined Republican priorities, including stricter immigration controls, voter identification requirements, proof of citizenship for voters and a ban on sanctuary cities.
Trump also called for the death penalty for major drug dealers, human traffickers and individuals convicted of killing law enforcement officers.
He urged Kansas voters to support Republican Senator Roger Marshall, who is seeking re-election, and gubernatorial candidate Ty Masterson.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also addressed the rally, praising Trump’s record on national security and saying his leadership had strengthened America’s position internationally.
The November 3 elections will determine control of Congress, with all 435 House seats and 35 Senate seats contested.
