TUNIS, Sept. 23: Tunisia has sent medicines and medical equipment to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to support efforts to contain an ongoing Ebola outbreak, the Tunisian Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.
The shipment was dispatched Tuesday aboard a Tunisian military aircraft and arrived at Kinshasa International Airport, the ministry said.
The initiative followed a call by the African Union for member states to assist DRC authorities in strengthening healthcare capacity amid the outbreak.
The World Health Organization said the Ebola outbreak remains uncontrolled despite a modest decline in infections nationwide, with transmission shifting geographically toward an international border.
According to WHO figures, the DRC had recorded 7,733 confirmed Ebola cases, including 3,732 deaths, as of Sunday.
The Tunisian assistance includes medicines and medical equipment intended to strengthen the DRC’s response and support healthcare efforts during the outbreak.
