Statement by the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the State of Qatar on HH the Amir’s Address before the Shura Council
H.E. Yakup Caymazoğlu, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the State of Qatar, stated that the address delivered by HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, before the Shura Council reflects Qatar’s ability to face challenges with steadfastness and responsibility, drawing strength from the cohesion of its institutions, the resilience of its economy, and the policies it has pursued to prepare for crises and contain their repercussions.
Ambassador Caymazoğlu said: “What particularly struck me in HH the Amir’s address was the confidence he expressed in Qatar’s ability to overcome this phase and continue its journey with determination, despite the exceptional circumstances the region has experienced. His assurance that Qatar will emerge from this crisis more resilient and better equipped to adapt to global changes reflects the country’s commitment to learning from challenges and preparing for the future”.
He added that Qatar’s progress over the past decades is the result of the vision of its leadership and its commitment to building a strong and prosperous state. He noted that the foundations for development and modernisation laid by HH the Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, continue to guide Qatar’s progress under the leadership of HH the Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The Ambassador noted that HH the Amir’s emphasis on safeguarding Qatar’s sovereignty and security, while continuing diplomatic efforts to prevent escalation and return to dialogue and negotiations, reflects an approach that combines firmness in defending the nation with a commitment to sparing the region further tension. He added that Qatar’s prominent position in the global liquefied natural gas market means that its security and stability have implications far beyond the region, given their impact on energy markets, the global economy and the safety of international maritime navigation.
Addressing regional issues, Ambassador Caymazoğlu highlighted the clear positions expressed in the address on the Palestinian cause, stressing the need to protect the Palestinian people, end violations in Gaza and the West Bank, uphold international law and ensure accountability for those responsible. He also emphasised the importance of continued efforts to achieve comprehensive political solutions to the crises in Sudan, Libya, Yemen and Somalia, in a manner that preserves the unity of these countries and ensures security and stability for their peoples.
He further noted that Qatar’s focus on education and investment in people is a fundamental part of its vision for the future. Development, he said, is not limited to economic growth but also involves equipping future generations with the knowledge and skills needed to meet tomorrow’s challenges and contribute to society’s progress.
Concluding his remarks, Ambassador Caymazoğlu said: “HH the Amir’s address reflects Qatar’s determination to safeguard its security and sovereignty, sustain its development, and continue playing its diplomatic and humanitarian role in the region. We appreciate Qatar’s efforts to promote dialogue and resolve conflicts through peaceful means, and hope these efforts will help overcome the current crises, strengthen regional security and stability, and give the peoples of the region greater hope for a peaceful future”.
